I grew up in rural Missouri, just a millimeter on a standard map from Iowa. Many in this great land of ours have trouble pointing to either state on a map but being from there, I can tell you that they are different and unique. Both make wonderful places to grow up, in case you are in the market.
I went off to college at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. I spent “four years by the bay” followed by five years on Active Duty as a Surface Warfare Officer based in Norfolk, Virginia. During that time, I traveled to Spain, Italy, Albania, Portugal, Turkey, and Bahrain. The travel bug bit me– hard.
I have traveled to Paris, studied abroad in Spain, lived in Hawaii, and now call North Carolina home. I welcomed two sons, Sebastian in 2016 and Lincoln in 2017, and a daughter, Hannah, in 2019.
I have been writing all of my life. From my first “chapter books” in elementary school to more recent magazine features on community landmarks, writing is the way that I connect with the world around me. Wherever that may be…
